"Friends"
Is this the moment for goodbye?
Is this the time for sorrow?
Or is this the start of something knew
we believe in our hearts is tomorrow?
Alone we can do so well it seems
but when we all come together
we find there's no difference in our dreams
We can hold on to this forever
There's no goodbye to friends it seems
There's no goodbye forever
We'll see it through
We'll make it come true
It's all about sticking together
The world is a bitter place we know
and people in life will be parted
but joy comes from finding as we grow
we can go back to where we started
There's no goodbye to friends it seems
There's no goodbye forever
We'll see it through
We'll make it come true
It's all about sticking together
"Mother"
When I look back
To every time
You put a song
Into the day
I start to think
Of just how much
You cared
In every way
Your love for those
Whom to you dear
Is long
And gently flowing
A river through eternity
Forever deep
And glowing
"Guardian"
Beckon me, oh noble one
When my time has come to fight
I am guardian of your day
Maker of sweets in the night
Don't wave me away from tragedies
Stinging tears to the eye
Nothing shall bar myself to cease
Even if I should die
“On Becoming Myself”
One day I awoke
And didn't love anyone anymore
I cast aside my childish romance
That left me waiting at the door
Standing, waiting, rotting like time
That didn't matter anymore
One day I awoke
And didn't like reading anymore
I stripped the letters from volumes of pages
And threw my books to the floor
Searching, doubting, waiting for my own truth
To be revealed…no more
One day I awoke
And couldn't hear the bawdy people anymore
I made my tongue a sharp knife of thick slice
No longer a burdensome chore
No longer to watch, listen, submit to society
My mouth like a wrench no more
One day I awoke
And found myself no different than I was before
I stood on the edge of an imagined reality
And bounded the pelting waves of the shore
Leaping, triumphing, surfacing above
To come as the self I was before
…The same self I had been before

Animals/Nature
"The Cat"
I have a friend
Who sleeps each night
At the foot of my blue sea bed
She ventures to my pillow
To give a wet kiss
But is pushed back purring instead
I tell her I love her
Her soft, knowing gaze
Through Summer, Spring, and Fall
And when the Winter comes condemning
She seems to see it all
A cat can have
A merciless time
If no kindness from the world
Receives her for her selfless wantings
To listen, to accept
To cuddle and to curl
"Monk"
The mist crept in on kittens' feet
To sit within the trees
Icy claws to chill the blood
And creep up to our knees
A pearlish moon at us does grin
Tangled 'tween the twigs
An angel face to light the night
As monk his burrow digs
Drippy, dying trees are lame
They frame a starry sky
Reflected in the monk's gaze
Eyes of whom
His grave draws nye
"The Dove's Soliloquy"
A morning dove
I called to me
To bring with her
A soliloquy
She sang with words
That told a tale
So soft against
A night owl's wail
Each note was lifted
To the sky
A lovely tune
Above did fly
And as I stood
To hear her sing
My feet too lifted
To meet the ding
Of a silver voice
A bell in Spring
"Butterfly"
Flitting through a crystal sky
However far can beauty fly
Until its golden wings will rest
And bring to death our Nature's best?
"Teddy Bear"
We're here alone
My gentle friend
A dreary night
Without an end
You're fun to play with
Fun to touch
Glassy eyes
Wander too much
We share our desire
And through our dreams
Share the adventure
Or so it seems
"Lifeless legs cannot walk
No voice, cannot talk"
Try to ignore
But understand
Labeled "just from Dreamland"
No one listens
No one cares
A voice unheard
To everyone who stares
Thrown on the floor
Or thrown away
From the family
You thought might stay
And speak to you
And kiss your nose
And love you
From head to toes
But they left behind
Someone now scared
You find no one
Who really cared
They forget you
But you never will
You'll just remain
A moment's thrill
So here we are
Just you and me
Trapped in a hall
Of fantasy
Don't ever let go of
My hand
And let be
Everyone else
You are real to me
"The Huntress"
We set her free
An outdoor spirit
Never to be tamed
We watched her roam
Around the gardens
Searching for random game
Huntress, they called her
Devourer of souls
Born from the coaly earth below
Soft as stardust
Dark as the night
Quiet as the whispering willow blows
Be careful, we warned them
Don't look in vain
At fleeing for your life
Our huntress will come
And take you away
With claws as slick as a knife
Atop the hills
Beneath the hedge
Within the baby ferns below
Around the house
Balancing a plank
As a hellish pirate's prisoner goes
The day is now done
She returns to us from
Her jungle world outside
The rabbits sleep
The birds nestle in
The littles run and hide
And I too sleep
With the Huntress tonight
A cat purring on my bed
Who could've stayed out
To delight in more hunting
But chose my company instead
"The Midnight Storm"
I walk on by
Houses dark
A midnight sky
Why did they go
Trying to fight
This sleet and snow?
I watch
Pools of rain
Gather at my feet
Misty fog
Makes a thick sheet
Snow is all around
The soft blanket
Hugs icy ground
Battering the windows and
Drowning out sleep
The rain has drenched me
As I creep
Towards the only light
I call in the wind
"Is anyone there?"
My mind is suddenly
Filled with fear
I know there is nothing
To keep me warm
No one is here
Because of
The Midnight Storm
"Silver Prairie"
A jewel amidst
The starry night
The moon is beaming
In radiant light
Is masked by clouds
That gaze below
To silvery sage
By rolling meadow
Snakes dissolve
Beneath the rocks
Gathered beside
The river docks
A stallion runs
The ribbon of light
Meeting once more
The deepest night
"A Longer Fall"
A moon hangs there in endless sky
It looms above the prairie, dry
We grope for that, the only light
that now is cloaked in deepest night
A hurried widow cracks the bark
devoured by the gathered dark
Attempt to catch the leaves astray
that try to touch the coming day
Thirsty tree digs in the grass
Shall longer Fall heed no pass?
"Winter"
My head rests on Winter's shoulder
Pure white, getting colder
Colder are the days that pass
Winter has stained the dirty glass
Has laid down its icy mass
And stung my cheeks with frost
Now we touch
My hand and your hand
We shall spread beauty
Across the land
The beauty of gentle snowflakes falling
I can hear the cold voice calling
"Winter will soon come again"
I have a friend
Who sleeps each night

Color poems
"Gray"
As light touches
As we star
As blanketed across sky
As rock in lion's layer
As sprinkled on unicorn's horn
As baby sheep newborn
As mounded soot in fireplace
As animal prints without a trace
As the most unsatisfying deed
As dead plants forgotten to weed
As robin's wing up in the air
It will always
Be there
"Green"
Green is a fight to the very end
Green is surprise around the bend
Green is adventure inside a man
Green is action without a plan
Green is freedom to follow the tide
Green is the courage held deep inside
"Red"
Red is pain withheld in tears
Red is a torrent of strongest fears
Red is a free heart set afire
Red is burning passionate desire
Red is an endless wave of strife
Red is dying for a dream in life
"Blue"
Blue is a depth of understanding
Blue is a star's light landing
Blue is a love that never dies
Blue is the beauty in compassionate eyes
Blue is a tranquil ocean of dreams
Blue is a sky of pearlish beams
"Yellow"
Yellow is a lazy chair that sits out on the lawn
Yellow is a dandy's head greeted by a fawn
Yellow is the fervor of the joy that summer brings
Yellow is the melting of memories...so many things
Yellow is a breakfast booth that doesn't receive many tips
Yellow is the kitchen cook when she smacks her voluminous lips
Yellow is the surprise of a garden salad gone amiss
Yellow is a silken scarf set free to wave in bliss
Yellow is the crisp new horn of a bicycle with teetering wheels
Yellow is the painted fence that changes whenever it feels
Yellow is a backyard with a sandbox, hose, and grill
Yellow is a princess who indulges extravagant frill
Yellow is a picnic with plenty of laughter to pass
Yellow is the tired old retriever when he lays out on the grass
Yellow is the warmth a family heirloom brings
Yellow is a locket, or a necklace of beaded strings
Yellow is a dripping ice cream cone beneath a smiling child's lips
Yellow is a cookie jar notorious for welcoming nips
Yellow is the stillness of a single star at night
Yellow is a secret that I really ought to keep, right?
"White"
Little lost friend
Within a garden of many blooms
Deep sorrows and brash crisps
Sweetened sunrises and distant stars
Locked away in golden captivation
The soul that wanders neverending
A little lost friend
Who knows the answers
Searching for the questioner
As light touches

Haikus
Speckled in the sky
Stars twirling with milky wings
A picture of night
Whispers from the wind
A ribbon of pink petals
Carried into dance
A sun dipped in gold
Melting on purple mountains
Citrus-painted sky
Scarlet capes of leaves
Bronze dancers in the crisp breeze
A fall melody
Winding river flows
With no place to call its own
Lost in the sogen
The trees sway, silent
Light green leaves hug the dark ground
While others lie dead
The sun and the moon
Two differing celestials
With equal beauty
One bloodthirsty sun
Leaking its veins into blue
Soaking the sky red
You and I embrace
As the logs consumed by flames
Crack apart and die
She keeps to herself
As the lotus closes in
Bursts of fine color
Leaves on autumn ground
A crimson cape is lifted
Riding on the breeze
Walking through the field
The softest quiet I've heard
Of this winter snow
At last...came the thought
No disturbance will shatter
This stillness of night
A cry in the night
Trying not to make a sound
As evening owl speaks
Stars twirling with milky wings
A picture of night
Whispers from the wind
A ribbon of pink petals
Carried into dance
A sun dipped in gold
Melting on purple mountains
Citrus-painted sky
